A reputation for quality
A YOUNG business has proven its credentials after being shortlisted for two top awards.
Jennifer Demirel, managing director of Prima Training in Sunderland, was surprised and thrilled to receive the news that she has been shortlisted for not one, but two awards with two well known local institutions; Equality North East and Women Into the Network (WIN) – an astonishing level of recognition for a business that is barely three years old.
Prima Training scooped the top prize for ‘Award for Learning Providers of up to 50 Staff’ at the North East Equality Awards last month. Jennifer was also pitted against some of the region’s best businesswomen in the category of Young Entrepreneur of the Year with Women into the Network (WIN), and although she didn’t win the overall category, was delighted to be shortlisted in what was described as the largest amount of entries in WIN’s history.
Few people would begrudge Prima’s hard working and dedicated founder success at the events.
Jennifer has applied her lifetime of experience in the taxi industry to great effect, earning the respect of clients large and small with her knowledge and passion for the sector.
Through her skill, determination and the support of a small but dedicated team of staff, Prima has become one of the North East’s recent business success stories, catering for the training requirements of the driving industry and proving essential in helping the division prepare for new legislation.
Since it was established in 2007, the company has grown beyond all recognition, turning out hundreds of qualified learners and regularly providing new jobs for local people as the business develops.
The company’s most significant periods of growth coincided with the recession, but continued unaffected.
It now maintains an extensive catalogue of courses for other sectors, including hospitality, administration, numeracy and literacy, as well as first aid, alongside its impressive list of driving courses.
Jennifer’s personal passion is offering opportunities to those who may not have achieved their full potential in the past and she encourages this friendly, positive, ‘can-do’ attitude amongst her office staff and trainers.
With an outstanding reputation for quality, accessible training and two thriving offices in the region – one in Sunderland and the other in Ouseburn, Newcastle – Prima has ensured that its staff really do ‘go the extra mile’.
“When I started this company I could not have hoped that things would have gone as well for us, and I’m so proud of what we have achieved,” said Jennifer.
“It’s a great feeling to know that other people recognise the good work we have done by considering us for these awards.
“Just to be chosen for the shortlist is wonderful.
“We’re all very pleased that we are being recognised for our hard work. The whole team at Prima do us proud and we hope to continue to serve the training needs of the region long into the future.”
