Wynyard Park Ltd has unveiled an aspirational new vision for the 700-acre site that promises a flagship development not only for the region but the whole of the UK.
The ambitious scheme will focus on the development of a mixed-use sustainable community where people can work, rest and play in a woodland setting.
The site already offers top-quality, prestigious office accommodation and high-specification warehouse space, all set in an attractively landscaped environment.
The revised scheme, which now includes plans for a medical cluster to help attract the world's leading healthcare providers, is focused on the development of commercial accommodation, a hotel, retail services, leisure facilities and neighbourhood centres.
This will all be located in a high-quality landscape, which will be carefully designed and built to be environmentally sustainable and which aims to significantly enhance the quality of life of those based there.
It could create more than 12,000 jobs for the region and will include plans for residential development.
Wynyard Park Ltd’s chief executive Chris Musgrave explains that the aim is to establish the site as an innovative development that leads the way in terms of design and construction.
“This is a fantastic chance to create an area that will be the envy of the North East, if not the whole country and will attract levels of investment that reflect that,” he added.
“Our new plans are geared towards creating a location that supports every aspect of people’s lives today, both at work and at home, with an overriding aim to create a healthy community supporting a high quality of life.”
The Wynyard Park proposals have been carefully drawn up to reflect the fact that the site has been identified as a Key Employment Location (KEL) for the North East region to promote accelerated growth.
Chris Musgrave added: “As the biggest KEL in the north of England we have a big responsibility to maintain the levels of success we have achieved since the site was created in 2005.
“From the outset we have consistently delivered on our promises and now we have an opportunity to continue this with our new aspirations which have had a very warm welcome.”
Since Wynyard Park Ltd took control of the site less than five years ago, it has managed to attract more than £250m of private investment and now has 55 companies and more than 1,000 employees based at the park.
This includes global industrial services company Hertel which has just relocated the head office of a division of the business to a 5,000sq ft unit in the site’s Business Village scheme.
The technical and administrative workforce of Hertel Offshore – which includes approximately 40 staff including engineers, directors, purchasing, accounts, administration and HR – is now based there.
Hertel Offshore managing director Jon Rokk said that the company had been attracted by Wynyard Park’s excellent reputation.
“We were very impressed with the facilities available for both staff and clients. It also offers excellent transport links and we have a wide range of similar businesses on site.”
Matt Johnson, Wynyard Park’s development manager, welcomed the arrival of such a prestigious new tenant, which follows others including NFU Mutual and Cleveland Police.
“We are very pleased with the calibre of businesses that choose to be located here, all of which will benefit from our ongoing commitment to maintain the highest standards in everything we have to offer.”
Wynyard Park Business Village offers office accommodation to let or buy, fitted out to high standard. Also proving popular is a competitive new fully-inclusive office accommodation package in Wynyard Park House.
Matt Johnson added: “This has taken off because it’s a fabulous concept in a fabulous building and is perfect for businesses looking to set up with the minimum of fuss at a great address.”
