Celebrating success more vital than ever

WITH the events of recent months, it may seem that all the media does is to report the downside of business.

Whilst it would be remiss of The Journal not to reflect the effects that the current global economic situation is having on the region and our readers, we also believe it is important to retain a sense of balance and perspective and highlight achievement and endeavour when we find it.

This is just one of the reasons why the Fastest 50 is such a vital part of the North-East business calendar and why The Journal has been a part of the event, working alongside Ward Hadaway, since the first Fastest 50 in 1998.

The Fastest 50 is important because it celebrates and showcases all that is best about the North-East economy.

The companies which have made it on to this year's list really do have something to shout about, making great strides in a whole range of different sectors and making their mark not just in the region and the UK but across the world.

The fact they have made these achievements against such a challenging backdrop makes them even more worthy of our praise.

We need companies like these to help to continue driving the North-East forward and make the kind of positive headlines which we at The Journal really do like to see.
