Service wins double top-tier ranking

IRWIN Mitchell has become the only law firm to achieve a top tier ranking in the Legal 500 for both personal injury and clinical negligence work in the North.
The firm has entered the top tier for personal injury for the first time since it opened in the region five years ago, adding to its now well established top tier ranking for clinical negligence.
For personal injury, Irwin Mitchell was singled out as a “cutting-edge practice” that has a “commanding reputation” in brain/spinal cord injury cases and asbestos-related disease claims.
In the clinical negligence category, Irwin Mitchell’s eight-lawyer team, which deals with complex, high-value work often involving birth trauma cases, was praised as “first-class”.
Irwin Mitchell is the UK’s fourth largest law firm, the largest Personal Injury practice in the UK and was awarded National Law Firm of the Year 2007 by the Lawyer Awards.
Irwin Mitchell deals with a large number of high-value cases and in 2007 Irwin Mitchell’s North East office secured settlements for clients totalling £40m. In 2008, the firm secured the record for the region’s largest ever personal injury settlement, over £6m.
Irwin Mitchell’s regional managing partner, John Davis, has led the North East office since opening in 2003 and he has been instrumental in the firm’s success.
