Dickinson Dees LLP's transport practice focuses predominantly on the rail sector, thanks to David Rewcastle's expertise in heavy rail franchising, infrastructure and projects work. In 2009, the team acted for Nexus in relation to the Tyne and Wear Metro project, advising on the tendering of a new operating concession and the introduction of £300m infrastructure improvements, and also advised Govia on its successful bid for the new South Central rail franchise. The firm also acts for train operators Southern and Southeastern, most recently on a successful judicial review of the new charging regime proposed by the British Transport Police Authority.
Under the leadership of Melanie Pears, Ward Hadaway has advised Nexus on the £22m rebuilding of Haymarket Metro Station. It also provides transport-related advice to tour operators and hotel groups.
