Celebrating 30 years in commercial law

WE live in interesting times. As the credit crunch continues and there is talk of a full-blown recession, the need for commercial clients to make the right decisions is paramount. This in turn heightens the need to obtain the best legal advice.

At Short Richardson & Forth LLP we are currently celebrating our 30th year as a commercial law firm based in Newcastle.

For 30 years we have provided a range of specialist legal services to corporate clients in the region, nationally and internationally.

Our approach is to provide experience and innovation in a manner that is bespoke to each of our clients’ businesses.

As well as providing the best legal advice, we also pride ourselves on offering real commercial acumen which helps our clients make the best decisions for their businesses.

The firm’s main practice areas are divided into three core groups: employment, corporate and property.

Employment law is what the firm first became well known for.

With a reputation built on contentious tribunal and High Court litigation, the Employment Group offers clients direct access to specialist advocates. It also specialises in non-contentious strategic advice and delivers made-to-measure training courses to support clients’ management and human resources functions.

The Corporate Group offers specialist services which include corporate finance, business advisory services, business restructuring, insolvency, dispute resolution, commercial litigation and debt recovery. Providing the core services required by corporate clients, key individuals in this group are able to combine to provide the expertise required.

The Property Group provides a full range of services in the fields of commercial and residential property. It has particular expertise in development work, plot sales and social landlord work.

These core offerings have never been more relevant than today as many businesses have to consider options such as restructuring their workforces, merger or acquisition and rationalising their property portfolios in order to survive and prosper.

We pride ourselves on building long-standing relationships with our clients who include public companies, owner-managed businesses, local authorities, property developers and financial institutions.

Increasingly all of these types of clients are taking a pro-active approach to legal advice in an attempt to put themselves in the best position possible and head off problems before they arise. This is an aim we share and will continue to pursue for at least another 30 years.

Mark Green is a partner in the corporate group and can be contacted by email at mg@short-richardson-forth.co.uk. Other partner contacts are Max Winthrop in the employment group and David Richardson in the
property group.
